About HTET (Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test ) Examination
HTET exam is mandatory to secure a teacher’s job in the state. Aspirants candidates whoever qualifies this exam has been eligible to teach in the government schools recognized by DSE (Department of School Education).
To ensure that persons recruited as teachers possess the essential aptitude and ability to meet the challenges of teaching at Elementary, Secondary and Senior Secondary levels, one of the essential qualifications for a person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher in any of the schools recognized by the Department of School Education, Haryana and affiliated by the Board of School Education, Haryana is that he/she should pass the “Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test”. “HTET” will be conducted by this Board in accordance with these Guidelines and such other rules/regulations/instructions/policies laid down by the National Council for Teacher Education/Department of School Education, Haryana
Eligibility
Teachers of Classes I-V (Paper I)
- Applicants for this category should have passed in Senior Secondary (or it’s equivalent) with 45% marks with a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education / 4-year B.El.Ed / 2-year Diploma in Education in Special Education are also eligible (or);
- Applicants with Bachelor Degree (50 % marks) and B.Ed qualification can also apply, or Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of two years Diploma in Elementary Education
Teachers of Classes VI-VIII (Paper-II)
- Applicants for this category should have a Bachelor Degree (B.Sc./B.A./B.Com etc.)
- Applicants with two years D.Ed./ B.Ed (OR) 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) / 4-year BA/ B.Sc.Ed or B.A. (Ed.)/B.Sc. (Ed.) / B.Ed (Special Education) with 50% in BA or B.Sc. both Appearing & passed candidates are eligible.
For Lecturers of Class XI-XII
Applicants for this category should possess the Post Graduate (PG) Degree in the concerned subject with at least 50% marks from a recognized university. Matric with Hindi/Sanskrit or Sr.
Secondary/Graduation/Post Graduation with Hindi as one of the Subjects
Qualifying Marks:83 marks for SC/ PWD candidates and 90 marks for all others including other State candidates.
Number of Attempts
There is no provision or rules prescribed for the number of attempts by all eligible students for appearing in the Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test (HTET).
Selection Procedure
- The applicant’s Selection process has been done based on the performance in the HTET Entrance Exam conducted by Haryana State Government.
- Marks scored in the Entrance Exam will shortlist applicants.
- Applicants also have to go for Final Round Personal Interview

HTET Certificate Validity
All qualified Applicants will have five years of the validity period for the HTET certificate from the date of result announcement for all category candidates (consisting both reserved & unreserved category). Chandigarh, September 15 2019 Haryana Government has Now increased the validity of the Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test (HTET) Certificate existing 5 years to 7 years, Conducted by Borad of School Education, Bhiwani.
